New Delhi: 11th April, 2015. Welfare Party of India strongly criticised Modi government's anti labour decision to halt distribution of Rs 1000 as minimum Provident Fund pension. Decision for this minimum pension was taken by the UPA at its last days. It was implemented by the NDA in September, 2014 till March, 2015 and benefitted more than 32 lakh employees. Trade unions had raised objection to the limited time frame. Welfare Party of India national secretary and Federation of Indian Trade Unions (FITU) President Mr. A. Subramani in a statement accused the central government of backtracking from its assurance not to stop the scheme and surrendering to the corporate and industrial lobby. “The government stand of financial shortage is absurd. Unclaimed amount belonging to EPF and GPF in many thousand crores are with the government; this if utilised effectively would be enough to meet the minimum pension requirement burden. The same government has reduced the income tax rate for Corporate and has been favoring them with sops and concessions worth crores in lakhs. It is cruel that enhanced pension belonging to widows, their children, orphan etc has also been slashed down.We demand to revoke the decision to suspend the Provident Fund pension without time limit,” the statement continued
