Money Bill route to pass Aadhaar Bill an improper and unwelcome step...
Bangalore: 18th March, 2016. Welfare Party of India strongly criticised the hasty and abnormal Money Bill route adopted by the Modi government to pass the Aadhaar Bill in the Lok Sabha. Party General Secretary P.C. Hamza in a statement said the utter disregard to the serious apprehensions raised by august members of the Rajya Sabha and the amendments brought by the Upper House is an unwelcome development. “Adopting the Money Bill route to pass the Aadhaar Bill in its original form ignoring the amendments is somewhat synonymous to undermining the Upper House and will invite unnecessary friction between the two Houses. The government has failed to clear the apprehensions of encroachment of the privacy of citizens making use of the biometric database and misuse by official and private players. Moreover it would have been better if the government waited for the verdict from the Supreme Court where a litigation is going on against the Aadhaar with a plea declare privacy a fundamental right,” the statement continued.
