New Delhi: 9th July, 2016. Welfare Party of India strongly criticised the Modi government for hunting renowned Islamic scholar and preacher Dr.ZakirNaik on mere suspicion or on the basis of Facebook postings made by people involved in Dhaka café terror attack. Party national president Dr. S.Q.R. Ilyas in a statement said the BJP led Modi government’s move can only be viewed with suspicion as many of its top brass along with an array of Sangh Parivar leaders has been making emotional and inflammatory statementsand raking up controversial issues targeting the largest minority at many times especially at poll bound occasions for political gains. Statements have been made recently of even making the country “Muslim mukt Bharat.” No credible and serious actions have been initiated against these leaders and nor efforts made to refrain these Sangh leaders from repeating such provocative statements. This is pure double standard which is highly condemnable.”“Dr.Naik has been making speeches and debates openly and everything is accessible to all. Like any citizen he also has the right to practise, profess and propagate his beliefs and thoughts and infringing that right is violation of fundamental right. If he has made anything wrong violating law of the land, then nobody will object to taking punitive action against him.The Party also objects to the selective practice of media trial and portraying one as terrorist or anti-national before completing the due legal procedure,” the statement continued.
