WPI AP Raises its concerns over Polavaram Project

The allegations over Polavaram project in AP have raised several concerns and have brought to light the shady nature of conduct by the state government again in this project.

Mohd Rahmath, State Secretary, WPI AP in his press statement said that this dam project has resulted in the displacement of millions of people as it happened in the earlier projects across the country. The state government is still unclear about the proper rehabilitation of the affected masses. He also said that the tender, which is given to a naïve foreign company named Transstroy, is again the violation of the rule set by the procedure of law on allocating the tenders to such costly and high-risk projects. Transstroy has no experience of constructing the dams in India and the state government’s sanction to the above said company creates a suspicion among the people of the state. It is a very immature decision of the state government and WPI challenges it. Mr Rahmath has demanded from the state government to clarify the allegations made on the tender process over the Polavaram project. He also demanded that the Government should brief on the progress of the rehabilitation project for the affected people.
