Sultan Battery, Wayanad, Kerala, 29th May, 2013: The CPM led Left and the Congress led UDF governments of Kerala continuously deceive the tribal people, alleged K. Ambujakashan, state general secretary of the Welfare Party of India. Both the fronts are only giving lip service and ignoring various acts and laws passed by the state assembly for the benefits of the tribes. He was inaugurating the march to Muthanga in Wayanad district by the Party.  (It was here on 19th Feb 2003, police fired 18 rounds at a protest meet of Adivasis gathered under Adivasi Gothra Mahasbha (ADMS). Five fatalities occurred.  They had gathered to protest against the Kerala Government's delay in allotting them land as per the agreement made in October 2001after a continuous protest for 48 days in front of the official residence of the then Chief Minister of Kerala A.K. Antony.) The government that promised five acres of land to each Adivasi family, even after decades, have not distributed even five cents, he alleged. It is ridiculous that while the left and right governments offer big sops to kulaks and big mafias and say no land available to distribute for Adivasis. He made it clear that the land agitation taken out by the Party will not cease, till the entire total zero land people including every landless tribe get land.

Hundreds of Party volunteers of Wayanad district and adjoining districts of Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod took out an impressive and strong rally at Sultan Battery town and later proceeded to 10-kilometers away Muthanga forest area in vehicles. Later their march to the Muthanga reserve forests was stopped by Police and Forest personnel. They conducted a sit-in protest near the statue of Jogi, the Adivasi killed in the police firing.

The sit-in protest was addressed by Prema Pisharati, state vice president, Razak Paleri, state secretary, P.C. Bhaskaran, Kozhikode district president, Prof. T.T. Jacob, Kasaragod district president, Krishnan Kuniyil, Malappuram district secretary, Pallipuram Prasannan, Kannur district vice president. Welfare Party volunteers erected a board there depicting “AS PER FOREST RIGHT ACT, THIS LAND BELONGS TO ADIVASIS”
