Easy availability of liquor must be contained -- Swamy Sookshmananda

Trivandrum: October 30. Welfare Party of India Kerala organized a get-together of leaders and activists fighting for prohibition in the state to coordinate and intensify their activities.

In spite of so many existing restrictions, availability of liquor becomes easy in the state and this is the main reason for rising alcoholism, said Swamy Sookshmananda while addressing the gathering. He said that an atmosphere akin to the anti-tobacco drive must be created in the case of alcohol also.

It is the hesitant attitudes of the government that prompt alcoholism, said Palayam Imam Jamaluddin Mankada.
It is praiseworthy that Welfare Party has taken up this serious issue when liquor outlets are mushrooming like petty shops, said Fr. John Areekkal.

The programme was attended by dignitaries and party leaders like Swamy Viswaabhandrananda, Iyyacheri Kunhikrishna, Mahin Neroth, Sreeja Neyyattinkara, P.K. Hamza, Maulavi Farooqui, S. Uwais, M. J. Mary, Madhu Kallara, Kabeer Vallakadavu and Rajagopalan Nair.
