Welfare party of india extends support to 14-party conclave

New Delhi: 31st October 2013: Welfare Party of India expressed satisfaction over the get-together of 14 secular parties opposed to the comunalisation of politics at Delhi the other day. Party general secretary Dr. S.Q.R. Ilyas in a statement referred to the resolution adopted at the Federal Working Committee meeting of the Party held last week in the national capital which expressed anxiety over the increasing communal polarisation of the polity on religious and ethnic lines. While extending support to the new initiative of the 14 secular parties, Welfare Party of India expressed its reservation and resentment at the stand taken in the past at various occasions by some of the secular parties in weakening the fight against fascism and strengthening the communal politics. The Party hoped that the unity of purpose shown by the political parties at Talkatora stadium at the initiative of the Left parties will help usher a viable and serious platform for the fight for secular values in the country. The Party general secretary said that the fight against communal fascism has to be taken up on political as well ideological fronts and should be driven by the motivation of saving the nation and its people rather than mere power motive.
