New Delhi: 6th January, 2014. Welfare Party of India demanded heavy reduction in oil prices proportionate to the sharp fall of the crude oil price in international market. Welfare Party national general secretary P.C. Hamza in a statement said crude oil price has reached the lowest in the last six years and its benefit has not been adequately transferred to the common people by the Modi-led BJP government. “The price has fallen sharply to less than 50 dollar now from the 140 in 2008. Modi government has made a peanut cut of nearly 15 percent leaving the bulk of the profit to the pocket of oil companies. Instead of giving relief to common people, the union government has also found it a golden chance to fill its treasury by increasing the excise duty at intervals. It is an irony that the aviation fuel in India has become cheaper compared to petrol bringing “ache din” to aviation companies. Welfare Party national secretary asked when the same “ache  din” will come for the common men of the country with less costly petrol and diesel available. Welfare Party national secretary also asked to roll back the increase made in the rail tariff by union government and hike of bus fare by various state governments in the name of high diesel price.
