Welfare Party of India has decided to field around 15-20 candidates ...
Kolkata 22nd February 2019 Welfare Party of India in its Press Statement issued here states that the 2019 Parliament election is very important and crucial for the country. On one hand fascists forces are destroying the secular, democratic fabric of the country and on the other hand the secular parties who are expected to counter them are divided. The country wide national alliance does not seem to be happening. While there are three types of alliance NDA, UPA and the third front with regional parties, there are many secular parties which are not part of any alliance. The need of the hour is to form one single alliance at the national level or at least there must be seat adjustment between them so as to give a tough fight to the fascist parties and apart from this all such parties should also be accommodated. Welfare Party of India is an 'All India party' having its presence in eleven states. It believes in value based politics and aims to bring a welfare state in the country. It also believes in inclusive democracy and equitable distribution of resources. Keeping in mind the importance of Lok Sabha election the party has decided to field a few candidates and in order to avoid the division of votes amongst the secular parties. The party is ready to ally with the secular parties at national and regional level. The National parliamentary board of the Welfare Party of India has decided to field around 15-20 candidates in the Lok Sabha elections. The state wise distribution of the seats will be as follows, 6 seats from West Bengal, 7 seats from Kerala, 3 seats from Maharashtra and 1 seat each from Telangana and Gujrat. The Party is ready to withdraw contesting from some seats if there is a mutual alliance or adjustment with other secular parties. The Party expresses its deep anguish and condolence with the soldiers who were killed in Phulwama in Kashmir in a terrorist attack and condemns the security lapse and further demands a high profile investigation of the same.
